For contracted clients we would have made you aware are quite a while ago that Microsoft are removing their mainstream support for this server. The extended support phase that the server entered is coming to an end in October 2023, which will come around much quicker than you think.
Any business still using Server 2012 R2 will no longer receive critical security updates after October 2023. Any data or services stored on that server will have a much higher threat risk in regards to failed compliance and cyber attacks.
An unsupported operating system will no longer receive any security updates, official patches or bug fixes so it is incredibly insecure moving forward. So if you use Windows server 2012 R2 then you really need to think about shifting away from it sooner rather than later.
The best form of protection is to plan ahead and upgrade these servers well ahead of the October 2023 deadline. That is where we come in.
